
How the Program Works
- Economic Mobility Coaching: Families receive guidance to navigate challenges and maintain long-term stability and economic mobility.
- Holistic Family Support: Access to resources for healthcare, education, early childhood development, employment, food, transportation, and more.
- Personalized Case Management: Each family works with a dedicated case manager to set goals and develop a plan for long-term stability.
- Gradual Transition & Skill Building: Families can participate in the program for up to two years, building confidence, skills, and independence to ensure lasting housing security.
What Families Receive:
Family Promise of West Michigan is a community-driven nonprofit helping families overcome housing crises with dignity and compassion. We prevent homelessness, provide emergency shelter, and help families build a future filled with stability and hope.
Impact & Outcomes
Through stabilization support, families work to gain greater self-sufficiency and avoid another episode of homelessness. By meeting the families unique needs, we are able to address the root cause of housing instability; creating change that lasts generations.

Early Childhood Services
Young children experience homelessness differently from adults. Family Promise provides specialized support for kids, including:
- Educational Resources: Navigation support to preschool programs, tutoring, and enrichment activities.
- Social-Emotional Support: Family Engagement activities and parenting coaching to help children process stress.
- Healthy Development: Support for physical, cognitive, and emotional growth, ensuring kids continue to thrive even in times of housing instability.
