Volunteer Opportunities

Appreciation Pro: Assemble special thank you projects, such as Thank You Boards, Welcome Home Banners, Thank You letters, and crafting cards.

Home Renovation Facilitator: This is a skilled volunteer for individuals with removal or construction experience in plumbing, roofing, flooring, etc. You can work with volunteer groups on the job site, helping the remodeling process move forward and teaching volunteers a thing or two as you go! Volunteers without formal training can also help with painting, cleaning, yard work, moving furniture or hanging blinds and smoke detectors.

Make A Meal: Make a meal in a disposable pan and donate it to Family Promise! These meals are frozen and are given to families when they move out to the shelter as a parting gift to welcome them into their new home. You can make meals at your own home or come use our office kitchen during Day Center hours.

Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) Volunteer: Support families experiencing homelessness who are staying in shelters through our IHN program! Give us a call, and we can connect you with a church as an ongoing option. You can make meals, play with kids, help make beds, or stay overnight.

Pick-Up and Delivery Crew: You can assist families by picking up small household items that are being donated in the West Michigan area. You can also help us drop off welcome home banners, yellow boards, and other items to various locations in the greater Grand Rapids area. A vehicle can be provided, or use your own!

Office Angel: Office Angels answer phones, perform basic data entry, assist with mailings, donation needs, light cleaning, and organizing around the day center.

Photographer: There is a variety of ways to user your passion for snapping photos all while helping families and kids!

Shopper: Shop for basic needs for our Day Center. A shopping list, finances, and a vehicle will be provided.
