Volunteer

Volunteers of all ages are welcomed at Family Promise. We help hundreds of families a year, and it would not be possible without each and every one of our valuable volunteers. You are our secret sauce! We have many ways for families, individuals, congregations, businesses and groups to get involved. Age, skill and availability don’t matter – we will find the perfect fit.

Families and Kids Volunteer Opportunities

IHN Evening Volunteer You can make a meal for families to enjoy or entertain kids staying at our host congregations. It’s a great way to support families staying in our shelter.

Freezer Meals Cook delicious freezer meals for families moving home. When families move home, we fill up their freezer to help get families settled and started on their new journey.

Day Center Help by keeping our space clean for our families and kids, assembling various craft and thank you projects, organizing donations, performing data entry, etc.

Furniture Delivery When a family loses their home, they often lose many of their belongings as well. Delivering a bed or piece of furniture helps to make their new house feel like a home.

Host a Donation Drive Bring together friends, coworkers or family to collect items like diapers, food, hygiene products and other basic needs. It’s a great way to support the families we serve.

Kids Care Children learn about the realities of child homelessness through an age-appropriate presentation and then participate in a service activity to help homeless kids in the Grand Rapids area.
