Bridge Street Bar — A $2.50 Hot Dog That Feeds Your Neighbors

Bridge Street Bar has only been around for eight months, but they’ve already created one of the simplest and most beautiful giving systems in town. On their menu is the “Home Dog,” a $2.50 add-on that buys a meal for someone in need. Behind the bar, they track how many are purchased. Anyone who is hungry can walk up to the window, ask for a Home Dog, and get a hot meal—no questions asked.

No paperwork. No forms. Just dignity and food.

Owner Rob Wahl shared how it started:

“When we were getting ready to open, I was here Christmas morning. It felt like it was just me and some people who didn’t have anywhere to go. So, it initially started with a holiday meal. I welcomed everyone for some food on Easter. I am preparing  a Thanksgiving meal this year and looking forward to something special for Christmas. I wanted goodwill to be part of our business plan. The Home Dog concept allows it to be a part of our every day.”

And it is. Their regulars have embraced it, and strangers buy Home Dogs for people they’ll never meet. You can too.
